Brick Wall Doll Photography Backdrop - Pattern & pdf File

You will find the written pattern below. If you prefer to download the FREE pdf file, you can find it at these two places:

Supplies

~ Worsted weight yarn, 4-medium, any two colors you want

~ Size 5.25 mm crochet hook

~ Yarn needle

Abbreviations

~ ch - chain

~ hdc - half double crochet

~ sts - stitches

~ c1 - color one; the color used to represent the cement around the bricks

~ c2 - color two; the color used to represent the bricks

Notes

~ The finished project measures 34 inches in width by 54 1/2 inches in length.

~ For my backdrop I used Red Heart Super Saver Ombre, color Hot Sauce for the bricks, and Mainstays, color White for the cement around the bricks. Of course, you can use any colors you choose; you could even make a really colorful backdrop with several different brick colors.

~ The chain 2 at the end of each row does not count as a half double crochet in the next row.

~ When changing colors, join the new color by completing the final pull-through of the previous stitch by using the new color.

~ While crocheting the bricks, I let c1 (the color used for the cement), run along on the wrong side of the project, securing it in place regularly to keep the strand from hanging loosely and untidy. This method saved me from constantly having to cut the yarn and then start it back up again, and also from either having to crochet all the ends in or weaving them in. Once you turn your work and have the wrong side facing you, use this same method with the c1 strand facing you.

~ If you would like to make the backdrop wider than the one I made, increase your stitch count by 22 (20 stitches for the brick plus 2 stitches for the cement).

~ As an alternative, this backdrop will also make a very nice lap afghan, or pet blanket.
