Supplies

~ Red Heart Super Saver Jumbo Worsted Weight Yarn, color: Blacklight

~ Size 8 (5 mm) knitting needles

~ 3 buttons

~ Yarn needle

* Of course, you don't have to use the yarn I used, and you can change to any other Worsted Weight Yarn, 4-medium you choose. *


Stitches Used

~ Rib (knit 2, purl 2)

~ Stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row)

~ Garter stitch (knit all rows)

~ Knit front and back - (increases count by one stitch)


Abbreviations

~ st - stitch

~ sts - stitches

~ k - knit

~ p - purl

~ yo - yarn over

~ dec - decrease

~ kfb - knit front and back

~ k2tog - knit 2 stitches together

~ p2tog - purl 2 stitches together

Instructions


Back

~ Cast on 50 sts

~ Rows 1-5 - rib

~ Rows 6-31 - work in stockinette sts; begin row 6 with p

~ Row 32-33 - dec 3 sts at beginning of both rows (forming arm holes)

~ Rows 34-44 - stockinette sts

~ Row 45 - k 13 sts - leave on needle, cast off 18 sts, k 13 sts - leave on needle (forming neck edge)

~ Row 46 - p first 13 sts

Row 47 - k first 13 sts

~ Row 48 - p first 13 sts

~ Cast off first 13 sts

~ Join yarn at neck edge

~ Row 46 - p second 13 sts

~ Row 47 - k second 13 sts

~ Row 48 - p second 13 sts

~ Cast off second 13 sts


Left Front

~ Cast on 26 sts

~ Rows 1-5 - rib

(From now on keep 4 sts ribbed at front edge for button band)

~ Rows 6-32 - work in stockinette sts (start off row 6 with ribbed button band and p rest of row)

~ Row 33 - dec 3 sts at beginning of row for arm hole, k to end of row = 23 sts

~ Rows 34-39 - work in stockinette sts

~ Row 40 - cast off 3 sts at neck edge = 20 sts

(End of button band. Do not rib 4 sts any longer)

~ Row 41 - k2tog at neck edge = 19 sts

~ Row 42 - p2tog at neck edge = 18 sts

~ Row 43 - k2tog at neck edge = 17 sts

~ Row 45 - p2tog at neck edge = 16 sts

~ Row 46 - k 16 sts

~ Row 47 - p 16 sts

~ Row 48 - k 16 sts

~ Cast off

~ Sew left front to back

~ Sew shoulder seam closed


Right Front

~ Cast on 26 sts

~ Rows 1-5 - rib

(From now on keep 4 sts ribbed at front edge for button band)

~ Row 6 - p (start off row 6 with p and rib last 4 stitches for button band)

~ Row 7 - k 1 st, k2tog, p 1 st, k to end of row

~ Row 8 - p to last 2 sts, k 1 st, p 1 st

~ Row 9 - k 1 st, yo, p 2 sts, k to end of row

(Rows 7-9 form the first button hole)

~ Rows 10-19 - work in stockinette sts

~ Row 20 - p 1 st, p2tog, k 1 st, p to end of row

~ Row 21 - k to last 2 sts, p 1 st, k 1 st

~ Row 22 - p 1 st, yo, k 2 sts, p to end of row

(Rows 20-22 form the second button hole)

~ Rows 23-32 - work in stockinette sts

~ Row 33 - cast off 3 sts at beginning of row to form arm hole, k to end of row = 23 sts

~ Row 34-37 - work in stockinette sts

~ Row 38 - p 1 st, p2tog, k 1 st, p to end of row

~ Row 39 - k to last 2 sts, p 1 st, k 1 st

~ Row 40 - p 1 st, yo, k 2 sts, p to end of row

(Rows 38-40 form the third button hole)

Row 41 - cast off 3 sts at neck edge, k to end of row = 20 sts

(End of button band. Do not rib 4 sts any longer)

~ Row 42 - p2tog at neck edge = 19 sts

~ Row 43 - k2tog at neck edge = 18 sts

~ Row 44 - p2tog at neck edge = 17 sts

~ Row 45 - k2tog at neck edge = 16 sts

~ Row 46 - p 16 sts

~ Row 47 - k 16 sts

~ Row 48 - p 16 sts

~ Cast off

~ Sew right front to back

~ Sew shoulder seam closed


Sleeves

~ Cast on 26 sts

~ Rows 1-5 - rib

~ Rows 6-19 - work in stockinette sts, start row 6 with p

~ Cast off

~ Sew sleeves to arm holes


Collar

~ Cast on 30 sts

(Start casting on with knitted jacket side (right side) facing you. Begin at the right front with the stitch directly above the button band, go up and around the back neckline, and then go down to the last stitch directly above the left front button band)

~ Rows 1-5 - rib

(From here on collar is worked in garter stitch)

~ Row 6 - kfb 1 st, k across to last st, kfb 1 st = 32 sts

~ Row 7 - k across to end of row

~ Repeat rows 6 and 7 until you have 44 sts

~ Cast off

~ Weave in all ends

~ Sew 3 buttons to left front button band
