Instructions
~ Tree Skirt Body ~
* This tree skirt was made to fit spaciously around a 2 foot tall Christmas tree. It measures 22 3/4 inches across from one point to the point on the opposite side *
~ With knitting needles and c1, cast on 3 sts
~ Row 1 - k 1 st, m 1 st, k 1 st, m 1 st, k 1 st = 5 sts
~ Row 2 - p across to end of row
~ Row 3 - k 1 st, m 1 st, k to last st, m 1 st, k 1 st = 7 sts
~ Row 4 - p across to end of row
~ Rows 5-32 - repeat rows 3 and 4 = 35 sts
~ Row 33 - k2tog, k to last 2 sts, k2tog = 33 sts
~ Row 34 - p across to end of row
~ Rows 35-64 - repeat rows 33 and 34 = 3 sts
~ Cast off
~ Make 4 more identical pieces, so you have 5 altogether
~ Sewing The Tree Skirt Together ~
~ Cut a long string of c2, thread onto yarn needle
~ Line up two of the pieces together side by side with the right side (k side) facing you
~ Sew the two pieces together, using cross st, starting at the top where the pieces begin with 3 sts, and going down to where the pieces end with 35 sts. Cut yarn and weave in
~ Add the next piece and repeat, but do NOT sew the last seam closed. It needs to be kept open in order to fit around the tree trunk
~ Crocheting The Tree Skirt Border ~
~ With right side (k side) facing you and using the crochet hook, join c2 by pulling up a loop at the bottom edge of the left open seam
~ Ch 1, sc up the edge of the left open seam, around the inside edge of the tree skirt, down the right open seam, and all around the outside edge of the star-shaped tree skirt until you end up again where you started. Join with a sl st into the ch 1 and fasten off
~ Weave in all ends
