Supplies
~ Worsted weight yarn, 4-ply, any color you want
~ Size 8 (5 mm) knitting needles
~ Stitch holder
~ Yarn needle
~ 2 small buttons
~ Sewing needle and thread; only needed if the holes of the buttons you choose are too small to be sewn on with the knitting yarn and the yarn needle

Front
~ Cast on 26 sts
~ Work 5 rows in garter sts
~ Rows 1-8 - work in stockinette sts, start row 1 with p
~ Row 9 - cast off 3 sts, p to end of row = 23 sts (first armhole formed)
~ Row 10 - cast off 3 sts, k to end of row = 20 sts (second armhole formed)
~ Rows 11-14 - work in stockinette sts
~ Row 15 - p 5 sts, k 10 sts, p 5 sts
~ Row 16 - k across to end of row
~ Row 17 - p 5 sts, cast off 10 sts, p 4 sts (front neckline formed)
~ Rows 18-23 - work the first 5 sts on knitting needle in stockinette sts (left shoulder formed)
~ Cast off
~ With right side (k side) facing you, join yarn in the first st of the 5 sts left on knitting needle
~ Work 6 rows in stockinette sts (right shoulder formed)

* Please note: If you want your sweater to be longer, add more rows between row 1 and row 8. By adding rows, you could also easily turn the sweater into a dress. Don't forget to do the same for the back! *

~ Cast on 26 sts

Left Back Half:

- place 10 sts on stitch holder,
- cast on 4 sts (beginning of button band) = 14 sts

~ Row 14 - k 1 st, k2tog, k across to end of row

Sleeves
~ With right side (k side) facing you, join yarn at the shoulder and pick up 18 sts, going down the armhole, over the side seam, and up the other armhole to the opposite shoulder
~ Rows 1-10 - work in stockinette sts, start row 1 with p
~ Row 11 - p 2 sts, pfkb 1 st, repeat to end of row = 24 sts
~ Row 12 - k 2 sts, kfb 1 st, repeat to end of row = 32 sts
~ Row 13 - p 2 sts, pfkb 1 st, repeat to end of row = 42 sts
~ Row 14 - k 2 sts, kfb 1 st, repeat to end of row = 56 sts
~ Row 15 - p 2 sts, pfkb 1 st, repeat to end of row = 74 sts

~ With wrong side (p side) together, sew sleeve and shoulder seam closed
